Firstly I want you all to know how challenging it has been for all of us to come in day after day during this most difficult time and I just want to say how immensely proud I am of our College community who has banded together over the past weeks.
A massive thank you to the Assistant Principals, Mrs. Magnano, Mrs. Murgana, Mr. Threadgold and Mrs. Mcleod who have been doing a massive amount of work in the background to ensure a smooth transition if required to offsite learning.
As you are aware, the Victorian Government, with the support of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, has announced that school holidays began on Tuesday 24 March.
Term 2 will now start on Wednesday 15 April. A decision will be made by the Department of Education at a later date as to whether this will be on-site or by remote and flexible learning arrangements. If this decision is made, I will contact you via Compass. Please contact the school on 87626777 if you need logging onto Compass.
All students have been asked to take all resources home from their lockers. This includes all books and other implements.
Students will need to be able to access the internet and have a device (laptop, desktop or iPad) if we move to distance learning. Any student who has not got access to a device in their home should contact IT, however, we will also be sending work home for you. Please be aware that we are limiting our laptops to VCE students only as we only have a few. Thank you to our staff who helped to connect students with the necessary devices and equipment last week.
While the transition from classroom learning to remote learning will require a shift in both mindset and location, we can reassure parents that our teachers have all the skills and the tools they need to continue to create engaging learning activities that meet the needs of all our students.
More information regarding coronavirus and schools is available on the Department of Education and Training website, which will continue to be updated as the situation evolves: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx
Hygiene rules still need to be adhered to.
It is very understandable to be experiencing feelings of uncertainty, anxiety and concern in relation to the ongoing development of the coronavirus.
Beyond Blue has developed a page with dedicated information and advice on how you can look after your mental health and well-being at this time, please refer to the link below.
Thank you for your support during this time and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next term. I wish everyone a safe holiday.

On Thursday 5th March, 10 very eager Fountain Gate students embarked down to Doveton Pool in the Park in what can only be described as very challenging conditions to compete in the Division Swimming Carnival. The forecasted weather was rain, and only rain. There was a level of uncertainty about whether the Carnival would proceed, however the students wanted to compete and represent the College which is a great attribute to have.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated high levels of sportspersonship and were lucky enough to have our College Principal, Mr. Pete Hanratty attend and provide levels of support and encouragement whilst they competed.
Our students achieved some fantastic results in their individual events and should be congratulated on their levels of preparation that was completed prior to the competition.
We have our fingers and toes crossed that the students will have the opportunity to compete at the Regional Championships sometime next Term.

Our students have been working hard in Art over the term! Some amazing pieces of work from our students!
Year 10 students have been completing a variety of photoshoot tasks during term one as they familiarise themselves with different DSLR camera skills and techniques. During this lesson students worked in groups and used fast shutters speeds to stop action, water was splashed over their subjects and students needed to capture this movement. Students then imported their photographs into photoshop and used post-processing techniques to enhance the photographic compositions they had created.
