The Year 7 BBQ was held on Monday 12th February with an amazing turnout of students, parents and staff on a beautiful evening.
Mr Hanratty, Ms Sherman, Mr Box and Mr Kennnedy were introduced and they addressed our new families. A wonderful solo acoustic guitar piece was played by Patrick Ng from Year 12. Students then took their families to meet their Home Group teachers who then went through a number of questions and answers that are commonly asked about various aspects of College life at Fountain Gate Secondary College. A delicious BBQ was enjoyed by all with an informal chat to end the evening.
On Friday the 16th of February the annual Swimming Carnival was held at Doveton Pool in the Park. Many talented students competed in the race events with the weather providing perfect conditions on the day. Huge numbers of students participated in the pool plunge, novelty events and enjoyed the water slide. It was quite pleasing to see so many students and staff dress in their house colours for the carnival and it really set a festival atmosphere that we are hoping to build upon for the upcoming Athletics Carnival on March 13th.
Students strutted their stuff in the 'Fashion on the Field' catwalk to cap off the day and we encourage all students to get in the spirit and dress in their house colours for the upcoming carnivals.
We would like to thank all of the dedicated staff and student volunteers for their support and efforts throughout the day which resulted in a highly successful carnival.

On Friday the 9th of February, Fountain Gate Secondary College was very proud to have two past students featured in the first ever VCE Graduate Showcase titled "Emergent17" located at the new Bunjil Place in Narre Warren. This curated exhibition showcased work produced by young artists within the City of Casey. The work included painting, drawing, sculpture, design, fashion, photography and film by students undertaking VCE Units 3 & 4 Art, Studio Art, Media, Visual Communication and Design, and Product Design and Technology: Woodwork and Textiles in 2017.
FGSC was proud to have Brandon Jong showcasing his VCD work and Jedaiah Meerwald displaying his Studio Arts: Photography Year 12 work. On Thursday, 15th February, our College held a practice Lockdown drill. We strongly believe it is important for all staff and students to be aware of the correct and safe procedures should we ever be faced with a Lockdown situation.
The practice was successful and all staff and students participated in a calm and attentive manner.
Homework Club is available to all students every Monday and Thursday after school and Wednesdays at lunchtime in C2. Please take advantage of Homework Club to assist with any school work or homework that you may need extra help with. Our wonderful teachers are available during this time to help you.

2018 Relay for Life registrations need to be completed as soon as possible.
This year, Relay for Life is starting at 5.45pm on Friday the 2nd of March to 6pm Saturday the 3rd of March at Akoonah Park Berwick.
Are you ready to participate in the Fountain Gate Community 24 hour relay?
As a community we raise much needed funds for cancer research, all while enjoying food and entertainment through supporting our community and those who are affected by cancer.
Walk for 30 minutes while enjoying the fun activities and costumes on Friday night, camp out over night with your friends, wake up to an egg and bacon breakfast, or even arrive on the Saturday to enjoy stalls, games, auctions and raffles.
Leave your footprint in the walk for hope by taking part in the candle light ceremony and honour those who have fought, survived or lost to cancer.
Please note this is not a Fountain Gate Secondary College event, but is being supervised by past Fountain Gate Secondary College Alumni members.
For a $30 registration fee using the link provided, you will have joined the team and the money will not only be donated in full to the Cancer Council, it also provides you with a free Relay For Life Polo.
If you can't make the event, please donate to help the Fountain Gate community to reach their fundraising goal of $5000. Last year over $6000 was raised, so let's do it again! Register now with all your friends and family, you won't regret it.

Fountain Gate Secondary College is proud to have been selected to take part in Ourschool, an exciting new project aimed at helping state secondary schools harness the expertise of their alumni (former students).
Our school is a not-for-profit service that will help Fountain Gate Secondary College invite alumni back to the school to provide advice and career guidance to current students.
It's the first alumni service for state secondary schools in Australia. Alumni organisations in private schools are well established and provide huge benefits to schools. This new service will help us grow our alumni community to benefit our students.
If you are reading this and you are a former student of Fountain Gate Secondary College, please get in touch with us by sending us an email.
We'd like to remind all of our new Alumni's that they are always welcome back and wish them all nothing but the best with their future endeavours. We look forward to hearing all about their journeys outside of school in the near future.
